The Wedge

Around this time of the year -- every year -- I get an irrational anxiety about sandals.  SANDALS.  Sandals.  I shop around for them for months and never find a good pair, and before I know it the season is over!  In my younger (albeit lazier) days, I just walked into a pair of Havianas and thought I looked amazing.  No.  No, no, no, NO, NO!  As I get older, the more I see a pair of flip-flops the sloppier they look to me.  I am convinced that flip-flops are now only meant for lounging, running to the convenience store around the corner, or vacationing in the sand.  After out-growing flip-flops I upgraded to something a little more developed:  the Birkenstock sandal.  Yes, still a slipper, but not so much a piece of useless rubber.  After a while, though, I started to feel like a lazy hippie...or that I looked a bit sloppy.  Two summers ago I experimented with a couple of different pairs of strappy sandals.  I had a pair of flat black strappy sandals that had fierce studs all over them.  I had a pair of black leather gladiators that were terribly uncomfortable.  And I had a pair of pale pink wedge sandals.  I've gotten rid of every pair since then, and I truly regret throwing away those cute pink wedges!  Last year I fell back into my laziness and ran around in flip-flops, Birkenstocks or flats.

BUT!  This year I say: NO MORE!  I am determined to get a pair of COMFORTABLE and CUTE wedge sandals this year.  Here are a few that I've picked out...I need to have them all.

After seeing these Dolce Vita "Julie" sandals in Melon Suede on Danielle of Visonary Dreams, I just have to have them!  These retail for about $180USD

These are the Dolce Vita Garren wedge sandals also in Melon Suede.  About $190USD.  I love the slight heel...yet it's still a wedge -- too cute!!

Ugh.  I love how Dolce Vita does this whole cut-out thing on their sandals!  And in what looks like the softest suede!....and they all look soooo comfortable!  Want, want, WANT!!  These are the Dolce Vita Eileen wedge sandals in Nude Nubuck, also for about $180USD.
These are the ShoeMint KBell wedge sandals in Mushroom Grey Nubuck and retail for about $80USD.

These are the Robert Clergerie Dylan Slingback Wedge Sandal.  Completely impractical as they retail for almost $700CAD!

I have been kind of wanting a pair of creepers lately...so maybe getting pair of sandals like them wouldn't hurt.  These are the Friis Zezza sandal in Nude.  They're on sale on Solestruck.com right now for $139.95USD.

These are completely impractical for everyday wear and I would never own/wear them unless someone handed them to me for free, but can you believe they are only $175 on Nasty Gal?!

There are tons of adorable wedge sandals in adorable prints, but I tend to wear a lot of prints during the summer so it wouldn't make any sense for me to get printed sandals.  And I wouldn't want to have to worry about accidentally clashing.  I really want a pair of solid coloured suede wedge sandals...and so far Dolce Vita seriously has my heart.

Anyway, that is all.  I heart the wedge.

Let me know what yo guys think of these!  And, if you know of any amazing shoe shopping sights let me know!!

On another note: I went thrifting today!  I've stocked up on cute tops for the warmer weather to come (um, it snowed today...damnit global warming!!).  I'll post my finds tomorrow!  Goodnight =).

  3. I love Dolce Vita! Such a great brand. That melon color is perfect for spring and it's a pretty good "neutral" color, but still fun. I like the first pair best!

And I know what you mean about flip flops. I haven't worn them since high school. I actually don't like sandals at all anymore (for myself). I always wear my boots! haha If it's too hot I usually just wear ballet flats. :)

  11. I think the grey ones are my favourites, but go with the ones you'll get the most wear out of! I'm useless with sandals, I just don't like having my feet on show, aha.

  15. Of all the sky high heels to wear, wedges are my favorite! These are awesome picks! Especially the last! The color, the cut & the detail are definitely all culminating in a package that's more than desirable!

I found you while browsing other blogs. I'm following you via GFC! I'd love it if you could check my digs out as well. I'm a newborn blogger, essentially, but I'd like to think my style is seasoned :)
