OBSESSED: Sea Salt

It's Friday!  Which means I'm about to blabber on about something else I've been OBSESSED with as of late.  On a side note (because I truly feel the need to mention this), Fashionista.com recently posted an article about words they are sick of seeing/hearing/reading/saying.  Now, I couldn't agree more with this article, but I cannot (literally...not figuratively, but srsly LITERALLY) -- CANNOT -- stop saying the word 'obsessed'. I think it's because I am seriously not over-exaggerating.  When I say I am obsessed, I am OBSESSED as in I cannot stop using/wearing/thinking about/wanting the THING that is the object of my obsession.  So, case in point...I will continue on with my 'OBSESSED' series of blog posts every Friday.

Anyway, OMGZ -- SEA SALT!  I usually try to stay away from things involving salt because I have terrible circulation and am very VERY susceptible to edema, bloating, swollen eye lids, etc. (I know, ew and it sucks).  However, I had never tried using sea salt as part of my beauty regimen. Well, oh my LAWDY!!

First up: essie-button's DIY Foot Scrub!  Estée's original recipe involves almond oil and peppermint, but I altered the recipe a bit as I was just grabbing for whatever I had in the house.  I swapped out the almond oil for olive as Estée suggested, and skipped the peppermint and opted for an extra helping of some lemony goodness instead.  OMG people.  Estée is a genius, and this scrub is amazing!!  Surprisingly, the salt does not dissolve in the lemon juice and olive oil (am I the only one intrigued??), so with every use the sea salt is coarse enough to scrub against the bottom of your dirty hooves, while the olive oil moisturizes them.  I love this shtuff.

As Estée suggests, I keep mine tightly sealed in a jar and in the fridge between uses.  When you go back to it in the fridge it ends up looking a bit like lemony congealed blubber (ew), but then when you mix it up with a spoon it becomes that perfect hoof-scrubbing texture again!  Definitely check out her blog post or video to make some of this stuff!  It will cost you next to nothing, and your feet will thank you for it!

*On a side note: Estée I do apologize for the wonky way your name is appearing...I copy and pasted the 'é' from Google.  I think no further explanation is required.

Next up: Lush BIG Sea Salt Shampoo.  I'm not a lover of Lush, and I usually avoid going in there if at all possible.  I just find the smell of EVERYTHING AT ONCE to be a bit overwhelming.  I kept seeing and hearing about this shampoo in numerous YouTube videos, but I never thought to try it out until..I think (yet again...obvious girl crush??) Estée from essie-button mentioned it in one of her videos a while ago.  I can't remember when I watched this video, nor can I remember what type of video it was...it must've been a hair care video or something, anyway... The way that Estée described this shampoo made me want to try it.  I'm the type that does not wash my hair on the daily.  Call me gross, but I just don't feel the need to shower errrday (I'm disgusting).  Anyway, when it comes time for this wild child to bathe, my hair is a disgusting nest of dirtay grease.  This shampoo gives me the awesome-est (not a word) and most thorough clean.  I never shampoo twice, and I only condition the ends of my hair as give myself the longest amount of time possible before my hair gets gross and greasy.  This shampoo (call me gross) gives me like a good 4 days  before my hair is in need of a washing.  LOOOOOOOVE ITTTTTT.

I can't say I'm too fond of the smell of it -- I hated it at first, but it is definitely growing on me, and the Boyf seems to enjoy the smell (surprisingly).  Anyway, take a look at the texture in all of it's confusingness.  Yes, that rice-porridge-y gunk builds itself into an amazing lather.  This is by far probably the most expensive product I have ever purchased (I think it cost me about $30!), but I do enjoy it, and it seems like it'll last me forever.

If you're looking for a shampoo that will give you a deep and thorough clean, leave your hair shiny and full, and if you refuse to wash your hair on the daily.  Try this!

Lastly, behold the ever popular Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray.  Now that it's summer, I've been craving that laid back effortless beachy wave look.  Toronto isn't exactly a beach city, and I'm no beach bum, but I can't help loving the look of effortless textured hair.

This stuff is so easy to use.  To get some texture I do one of two things:  I'll either throw my hair up in a messy bun after I've towel-dried it, and then when I let it down hours later, I'll spray some of this stuff all over my hair and scrunch away OR I'll put my hair into two loose braids after I've towel dried.  I'll sleep on it, and in the morning I'll spritz the braids and the once I've let the braids out, I'll spritz and scrunch again for good measure.

This stuff set me back about $20 (it's the smaller bottle, not the full-size...yikes).  As you all now, if ever there is a money-saving alternative, I will eat it up.  I've found a few DIYs on how to make your own sea salt spray, so I think I'll be whipping one up soon and see how it compares to Bumble and Bumble.  Would you be interested in a DIY post or vid??  Let me know  because I love doing DIYs! :)

Anyway, have you been using any sea salt products as of late??  Or have you be using or tried any of the ones I've mentioned?  Let me know!  I love comments :).

Have a good weekend everyone!
